In January 2022, Mouhamed Ba arranged to purchase an electronic device through an online selling platform, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Ba robbed and assaulted the victim at gunpoint when meeting at the agreed upon location in Weehawken, Suarez said.
A jury convicted Ba of robbery, kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful possession following a week-long trial, Suarez said.
Ba faces 10 to 40 years in state prison when he is sentenced next month, Suarez said.
